Chapter 14: Completely Different from the Previous Su Zheng

Zhang Jingsi suddenly covered her face in disbelief.

Was she really that ugly?

What made her so terrible? Why had Su Zheng become so vicious?

"You—are you blind? How dare you call me ugly?" she spat, her voice trembling with anger.

Gu Li clicked her tongue, looking entirely unbothered. "I don’t have many hobbies, but I do appreciate handsome men and beautiful women. But you... I’m afraid you think you're beautiful just because the blind people around you keep praising you."

Zhang Jingsi was livid.

"Su Zheng, you’ve changed!" she screamed, fury clouding her judgment.

Gu Li’s face remained calm, though a wicked smile curled at the corners of her lips. "Yes, so stop obsessing over me, ugly freak. I’m just a legend to you."

Zhang Jingsi's anger flared up, her blood boiling. She was on the verge of exploding.

In a fit of rage, she pulled a dagger from somewhere and lunged toward Gu Li, aiming for her abdomen.

Her intent was clear—if Su Zheng wouldn’t marry her, then she’d force him to. If she had to, she’d stab him, drag him back to her home, and have him there where she’d make sure her parents agreed to the union.

She was confident that her aim would be true—and that she wouldn’t kill him.

But Gu Li’s reaction was swift.

The moment the dagger was extended, she grabbed Zhang Jingsi’s slender neck in one fluid motion, her grip tightening as she kicked the weapon out of her hand.

Clink!

The dagger hit the ground and bounced twice before coming to a stop.

Gu Li held her by the neck, a faint smile still playing on her lips. "Zhang Jingsi, you can’t have me, but now you want my life?"

Zhang Jingsi's face drained of color. She could hardly breathe, stunned by how fast and powerful Gu Li’s counterattack had been. It was nothing like the cowardly Su Zheng she knew.

"Want to know why I changed?" Gu Li asked calmly, her fingers still pressing against Zhang Jingsi’s throat. "I went abroad, my vision improved, and I learned a few tricks."

Zhang Jingsi’s mind raced, but she couldn’t speak—her airways were cut off. She had no idea what had happened to Su Zheng in the time they’d been apart, but it was clear that he was no longer the person she remembered.

Gu Li retrieved her phone and was about to call for security when the elevator door dinged open.

Le Tian hurriedly appeared, flanked by two security guards.

The guards swiftly grabbed Zhang Jingsi by the arms, dragging her away. Her furious, desperate cries echoed in the hallway.

"Su Zheng! How can you not love me? How can you not marry me?!"

The scene was a complete disgrace to the Zhang family.

Le Tian, watching the spectacle unfold, suppressed a chuckle. He couldn’t help but think: Has this woman been watching too many romantic dramas? Her angry lines sounded straight out of a soap opera.

He rolled his eyes and was about to speak when the security guards stopped near the elevator.

A soft, bell-like voice interrupted him.

"Brother Zheng!"

A tall bodyguard emerged from the elevator, followed by a delicate-looking girl.

It was Yue Xiaoqing.

Gu Li instantly recognized her. Yue Xiaoqing was from Haicheng and studying at a medical university. She was wearing a pink dress, her hair half-curled and exuded an air of gentle elegance. Her beauty was soft and refined.

As soon as Yue Xiaoqing saw Gu Li, her eyes brightened, and she sighed in relief, though she quickly masked it with a subtle smile.

"Ms. Zhang, the person you’re looking for is here." The bodyguard spoke, addressing Zhang Jingsi, who was still fuming and struggling in the guards’ grip.

The two security guards held their ground, unwavering. They took their orders directly from Mu Qinghan, and without his approval, they would never release the daughter of the Zhang family.

No matter how influential the Zhang family was, it was nothing compared to the Mu family’s power.

Gu Li, standing off to the side, allowed a sly smile to curve her lips. She strolled over confidently and extended her hand toward Yue Xiaoqing.

"Come here."

The words were casual, almost careless, but the command in her tone left no room for doubt.

Yue Xiaoqing was about to step forward when Zhang Jingsi’s voice cut through the tension.

"Yue Xiaoqing, don’t forget what you promised me!" Zhang Jingsi’s voice was laced with venom.

Yue Xiaoqing bit her lip, glancing at her with uncertainty before nodding. "I understand."

Zhang Jingsi smirked, satisfied with her control over Yue Xiaoqing. She broke free from the guards and bounded over to her bodyguard’s side, looking at Gu Li triumphantly.

"Su Zheng, let your ex-girlfriend talk some sense into you."

With a final, parting shot, she added, "Yue Xiaoqing, don’t disappoint me. I’m waiting for you downstairs!"
